The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center

The Highlands Museum and Discovery Center is a highly-popular interactive museum that melds play and learning into one combined experience. If you are interested in a fun experience for your young children, then you may want to consider booking your place in this historic building.

This museum houses three exhibit-filled floors for young-ins. While there are specific exhibits that will ALWAYS be around, some of the exhibits rotate in and out. You may get an artistic one visit and a historical one the next. Fun exhibits like this will keep you coming back for more.

The Highlands Museum was founded in 1984, and while it started out as a cultural and historical center for the surrounding area, it gradually changed. Even now, the museum is drawing up plans for an all-new discovery center to keep education and fun moving forward forever.

With over 19 exhibits to explore and appreciate, it’s impossible to not learn something as you walk through the museum halls. These exhibits range from clothing to music to aerospace and medical rooms. It holds a diverse array of topics, enough that any guest should find something that resonates with them.

The main level is where all of the art is displayed, the bottom floor is a play area for young children, and the top floor is reserved for conferences. While the museum layout is fairly easy to understand, there are maps of the museum available to help you make the most of your time.

Some
permanent exhibits include the Medical Exhibit, Ashland Goes to War and Opening the New Frontier.

There is also an artist’s corner where local artists in the area can display their artwork. Forms are available to fill out at the museum so you have the opportunity to have your artwork displayed.
